SA’s electricity crisis | AG welcomes exemption withdrawal

JOHANNESBURG - The Auditor-General is welcoming the withdrawal of Eskom's exemption from parts of the Public Finance Management Act.

Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana made the announcement on Wednesday.

The exemption meant the utility would not have to disclose irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenditure for three years in its annual financial statements.

The AG's office says exemptions granted should promote transparency and accountability.
