JOHANNESBURG - Persistent power cuts and skyrocketing electricity prices have forced civil society to take some action.

The Not In My Name organisation led a march to the Union Buildings on Friday. Azapo also joined in.

There are growing calls for Nersa to reverse its 18.65 percent electricity tariff increase.

Meanwhile, Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan and Eskom CEO Andre De Ruyter have until Friday to give answers or face legal action.

They were served with a letter of demand over blackouts.
