SA's corruption emergency | Nxesi's case against Mdwaba resumes

JOHANNESBURG - Labour Minister Thulas Nxesi and Thuja Capital CEO Mthunzi Mdwaba face off at the Pretoria High Court on Thursday.

Mdwaba accuses Nxesi and other high-ranking officials of soliciting bribes worth R500-million.

This is from a R5-billion job creation deal that Thuja Capital signed with the Unemployment Insurance Fund.

Minister Nxesi is refuting the claims, filing an urgent application to have that agreement terminated.

The multi-billion rand contract, signed off in December 2022, was later deemed to be irregular.
