EAST LONDON - The Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality in the Eastern Cape says it wants to reach common ground with residents who've been tampering with electricity connections.
Authorities have embarked on a four-month amnesty urging residents involved in illegal connections to come forward so that proper infrastructure can be put in place for them.
However, not everyone agrees with the amnesty as there are no guarantees that communities will toe the line.
The amnesty concludes next month and after that, the municipality is promising to clamp down harshly on residents who continue to tamper with the electricity supply.
