JOHANNESBURG - SAPS whistleblower Patricia Mashale has fled the country to an undisclosed location.
She has been appealing for protection from the government for a while.
Mashale says her life is in danger after exposing alleged corruption within the police crime intelligence in 2009.
She was reportedly dismissed in 2022 as a senior administrator in the Free State.
Several civil society organisations have written to Justice Minister Ronald Lamola, asking for funding to be made available for whistleblowers who lose their livelihoods after exposing corruption.
Mashale says she will now be appealing to the International Criminal Court for what she terms hideous crimes committed against innocent citizens.
She has accused President Cyril Ramaphosa of turning a blind eye.
