CAPE TOWN - Santaco has pulled its taxis from roads in the Western Cape.
It's calling on Uber and meter taxis to join the stay-away.
This comes after clashes between law enforcement and drivers because of impounded vehicles. Taxi bosses are blaming the City of Cape Town.
Western Cape Santaco chairperson Mandla Hermanus said, "we had stopped our operators, who were saying let's go on a stay-away."
"Most of them are saying maybe if we had done that maybe, some of those 488 that were repossessed would not have been repossessed. But we had faith in government officials we persuaded our members to not stay away."
