JOHANNESBURG - An SANDF team is in Sudan to evacuate about 77 South African citizens.
According to the International Relations department, fighting hasn't stopped evacuation plans.
The department's Clayson Monyela tweeted on Sunday that those South Africans are all in a WhatsApp group with embassy staff.
He says they note the breakdown in communication and that's because of poor network due to power outages.

But it's heartwarming to hear that the evacuation plan is at an advanced stage.
Monyela says the airport is still closed and all routes are not risk-free.
He says government is doing everything possible to get South African citizens out.
