JOHANNESBURG - The South African Human Rights Commission is investigating claims the South African Police Services' handling of retrieval over 1,000 people from abandoned mines in Stilfontein.

Since Monday, 246 illegal miners were rescued and 78 bodies recovered.
The total number of miners retrieved is numbered as 1,907 since August.
Police say no miners remain underground.
The South African Human Rights Commission Commissioner Sandra Makoasha discussed this with eNCA.
