SA-US relations | Trump offers Afrikaners refugee status

JOHANNESBURG - It seems there is no let-up from US President Donald Trump.

He has now followed up his claims about land confiscation in South Africa, with yet another controversial offer.

This time he's directed his officials to prioritise the resettlement of afrikaners and their families in the US, as refugees.

Last week Trump, without any evidence, claimed a certain class of South Africans were being mistreated by the government.

On Friday, he signed an executive order stopping financial aid to South Africa.

The US president has been using the newly signed Expropriation Act, to target the country because of its foreign policy.
