SA-US Relations | Time's up for SA Ambassador Rasool in the US

JOHANNESBURG - Expelled SA Ambassador, Ebrahim Rasool, had until (Friday) to leave the US.

He was declared persona non grata last Friday, and his privileges and immunities were withdrawn following criticism levelled against US President Donald Trump.

South Africa and the United States have been in a series of diplomatic squabbles, since Trump took office in January.

The White House has accused South Africa of racially persecuting Afrikaners after the newly introduced Expropriation Act was announced.

And, nearly R8-billion aid cut has had devastating consequences for HIV/AIDS treatment programmes in South Africa.

We spoke to FSN Correspondent Mitch McCann from New York earlier.

He says the US government is still seething over Rasool's comments.
