JOHANNESBURG - Sunday marks two years since the violent and deadly unrest in KwaZulu-Natal and parts of Gauteng.
Over 350 people were killed and dozens of others injured in the looting and rioting that took place.
The violence took South Africa by surprise at the time, although WhatsApp messages had been circulating warning of such an incident.
Police were unable to control the crowds who went on to destroy roads, malls, stores and other infrastructure.
Many businesses were forced to close down.
The country is still counting the cost.
