JOHANNESBURG - Newly-appointed Arts and Culture Minister Zizi Kodwa is talking tough on exploitation in the entertainment industry.
For years, artists and performers have voiced frustrations at being overworked and underpaid.
Kodwa visited veteran actress Connie Chiume who's long been a vocal critic of ongoing abuse.
She recently received her third lifetime achievement award at the Royalty Soapie Awards where she used the platform to advocate for artists’ rights.
Kodwa says he'll engage more stakeholders to fast-track the improvement of working conditions.
