CAPE TOWN - This year's fire season in the Western Cape has left a trail of destruction.
The Cape Winelands and Overstrand district municipalities have been hit hard.
Now authorities there want a provincial disaster declared in the areas.
Anxious farmers are concerned the runaway fires could affect the harvest and have a devastating impact on the wine industry.
The blaze has jumped the R43 and a precautionary evacuation order has been given for Pearly Beach resort.
