STILFONTEIN - Mining Affected Communities United in Action (MACUA) has hailed the High Court ruling which has ordered the state to begin mine rescue operations in Stilfontein, North West.
According to the organisations spokesman Sabelo Mnguni was long over due.

He said for the past three months they have made calls to rescue the miners however, police insisted that it was not their mandate to go underground.
The ruling follows an urgent application brought by Zinzi Tom, whose brother, Ayanda Tom, is among the illegal miners who have been underground since July 2024.
