DURBAN - There’s still a shortage of alcohol testing kits in the country.
The SAPS says there are other ways to convict drunk drivers, but some organisations are worried about the implications for road safety.
Drunk drivers accounted for a quarter of all traffic arrests last year.

South Africans Against Drunk Driving says this once again proves driving under the influence is not taken seriously enough by authorities.
The SAPS says there is a global shortage of the necessary vials used to store blood for these cases.
Now, it has sourced a different brand, but those new vials are still in the testing phase and not ready for use.
