NKOWANKOWA - Tito Mboweni's family, business associates and the political fraternity gave him a fitting send-off.
A family representative at Mboweni's funeral told mourners Mboweni would not entertain requests for favours.
He also thanked the ANC for nurturing him into a great leader.
Manias Mboweni said, "As a family, we want to thank the ANC for taking our son from a remote area and sharpening him into a great leader."
"We appreciate the ANC for having contributed towards his leadership skills, education and training."
"When he came back to the country, he was definitely a different person. He would advise us but when we asked for a little favour, he would not respond."
"Tito never believed in corruption. The word corruption did not exist in his vocabulary."
His son, Sello, also remembered his father, the first black governor of the Reserve Bank.
