McCauley has also been praised for his stance against apartheid.

Bishop Malusi Mpumlwana has recounted his first meeting with the late pastor 34-years ago.

He said, ''I lived in the Eastern Cape and never got to meet McCauley, until the Rustenburg conference of churches in 1990, when the  Rustenburg declaration was to be adopted condemning apartheid, DRC leaders and other pastors left and held a conference outside, Pastor Ray was next to me and I asked if he’s going to join them, he said no don’t prejudge me, I condemn apartheid, and he made this declaration against apartheid, and he lived up to it throughout his life and ministry’.

Businessman Lazarus Zim also paid tribute to the late Pastor Ray McCauley.

He recalled how well McCauley knew who attended his church.
