JOHANNESBURG - Former Constitutional Court Judge Yvonne Mokgoro has died.
She suffered multiple injuries in a serious car crash near Kimberley, in the Northern Cape in April last year.
Several setbacks in her recovery forced her to step away from public engagements.
Mokgoro was South Africa’s first black woman judge to sit on the Constitutional Court’s bench and served from 1994 to 2009.
She’s been hailed as a defender of justice, human dignity and the Constitution.
