    JOHANNESBURG - Government efforts to end power cuts aren't driven by next year's elections.

    That's according to ANC Secretary-General, Fikile Mbalula.

    Earlier this year, he promised South Africa blackouts would end by December.

    But with the country plunged into Stage 6 power cuts, many South Africans aren't hopeful.

    Mbalula says while the timeline may change, he's confident blackouts will be done away with.
