JOHANNESBURG - South Africa will receive the first batch of equipment from China to alleviate rolling blackouts.
It's part of the Technical Assistance Programme agreed to on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in August.
China pledged R167-million in technical support with a further R500-million grant.
The 450 generators will be used in public facilities like clinics, schools and courts.
This is in an effort to help minimise the effects of power cuts on residents and businesses.
Electricity minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa is in Pietermaritzburg where he will receive this consignment.
