Eskom hands over power to transmission company

JOHANNESBURG - We've heard about the unbundling of Eskom for years, and now it's finally becoming tangible.

The National Transmission Company of SA was launched this week.

It will spend R112-billion to connect 30 Gigawatts of renewable energy to the grid in the next five years.

Energy expert Chris Yelland says it's important for the company to operate free from interference.
