Reservoir levels steadily stabilising, says Joburg mayor

JOHANNESBURG - It's been 12 days since the Eikenhoff pump outage and parts of Johannesburg are still without water.

At first, the problem was blamed on a power outage, then hot weather and high consumption.

Now, it turns out that someone forgot to open a valve supplying around 20 Randburg suburbs.

Joburg mayor Kabelo Gwamanda said it is projected that on Friday and over the weekend more areas will recover as reservoirs and towers build more capacity and stabilise.

"Technical teams will continue to closely monitor the systems and we will keep residents informed of the developments or any changes that would occur."
