JOHANNESBURG - Rand Water has raised the alarm over critically low water levels in Gauteng.
The bulk water supplier says taps will run dry if municipalities do not implement its recommendations.
It is advising local authorities to address water leaks and illegal connections.

Mike Muller from Wits School of Governance said it’s the job of municipalities to regulate and provide water supply.
"They can enforce measures including restricting their water supply," he said.
"Our problem is not that the municipalities don’t have the powers, they're not using them. That's why were running into trouble at this moment."
