JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed a new Inspector-General of Intelligence.
Imtiaz Fazel will serve in the position for the next five years.
The Inspector-General monitors and reviews the operations of the intelligence services, including the State Security Agency.
Fazel is a former Chief Operating Officer in the Office of the Inspector-General, and a former Deputy Director-General in the office of the SSA.
He has a Master’s in Security Studies from the University of Pretoria and a Bachelor of Accounting Science from the University of South Africa.
