R15m worth of drugs seized at Port of Richards Bay

RICHARDS BAY - The Hawks have seized cocaine to the value of R15-million at the Port of Richards Bay.

Members of the Serious Organised Crime unit were acting on a tip-off about a vessel travelling from Colombia.

The ship was apparently carrying coal for import into South Africa.

It arrived at around 11pm after leaving Barranquilla on 26 March.

A search was conducted upon arrival and the blocks of cocaine were discovered.

Hawks KZN Head, Lesetja Senona, has welcomed the seizure and thanked members of the unit.
