PARLIAMENT - Suspended Public Protector, Busisiswe Mkhwebane, plans to make public the recording on the alleged extortion by the late Tina Joemat-Pettersson.
Mkhwebane has accused Joemat-Pettersson of trying to quash the inquiry into her fitness to hold office with a bribe.
Inquiry Chairperson, Qubudile Dyantyi, and ANC Chief Whip Pemmy Majodina are also accused of being part of the scheme.
Mkhwebane said, "The issue of the one you say I must put in writing is in my letter.
"It's related to corruption, extortion of bribe and in my conclusion, I mention that Steve Biko mentioned that "black people you are on your own", if you've got members of parliament dealing with their own like this..."
"When you listen to the audio, you will hear what she was trying to do."
"The recording will prove what you were planning to do and it's confirmed by the recording."
"If you treat her like this, I must indicate, she was trying to sensitize me that this is the horrible process which you are subjected to. Chairperson, I have no legal representation and I think my council must still be briefed."
"As I indicated, I don’t agree with you now, reversing your decision because you've decided that we were proceeding with my evidence."
"This leaves me with no option but tell my side of the story and tell members of the public - what I’m subjected to and sit in front of the chairperson who has been alleged to be corrupt."
Dyantyi says it isn't the first time suspended public protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, tries to get him removed from the inquiry into her fitness to hold office.
He says Mkhwebane must give her alleged evidence to the correct channels.
He said, "The moment they came to me, when inquired by various media house, I indicated all of that is de-lied … I will not dignify then with any interview or give them legs...I stay focused on the work I’m doing."
"If there is anything to answer to I will. I will not be spending sleepiness nights on them."
"I remain very responsible…So far we’ve run the inquiry with decorum, we’ve done it with rationality and fairness."
