JOHANNESBURG - Many citizens were not necessarily worried about the government and President Cyril Ramaphosa, when they chose not to support the EFF's protest action on Monday.
Political analyst Sandile Swana says people were more concerned about protecting their own interests, around work, business and property.
He said, "there were two interests yesterday [Monday]. One of the ANC and its beneficiaries to protect the status quo. The other was property owners worried about violence."
"So those were the concerns of the private citizens not that they wanted to protect Ramaphosa to stay in power. They wanted to protect themselves and protect their properties and businesses."
