JOHANNESBURG - Hundreds of security personnel have been able to maintain relative calm and law and order in the Western Cape during Monday's protest action.
Isolated cases of burning barricades and stone-throwing were quickly brought under control.
Thousands of tyres had been confiscated on the weekend across the city.

Besides having boots on the ground, potential hotspots were monitored from the City’s Disaster Risk Management Centre in Goodwood.
