Probe underway after Clairwood blaze

DURBAN - At least 700 people are sleeping in marquees on Sunday following a fire that swept through an informal settlement in Clairwood, in Durban.

Almost 200 homes were destroyed.

Officials are now trying to establish what caused the fire and how they are going to assist the homeless.

The Red Cross is on the ground assisting with marquees, hot meals, blankets, and mattresses.

KwaZulu Natal Human Settlements and Public Works MEC, Sipho Nkosi, will visit the area on Monday and later announce interventions.
