President Ramaphosa attending summit in Uganda

KAMPALA - President Cyril Ramaphosa is in Uganda for the 19th Non-Aligned Movement Summit.

Arab nations are calling for the meeting to focus on the situation in Gaza.

A total of 93 of the 120 NAM members have gathered in Kampala.

The Arab nations and Mauritius are calling for a political declaration for a ceasefire and humanitarian aid.

Meanwhile, Somalia is appealing for support from the bloc to ensure its sovereignty.

It wants the group to reject the port deal between Somaliland and Ethiopia.

The deal gives Ethiopia access to the sea and in return, Ethiopia will recognise Somaliland as a sovereign state.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will address the gathering being held under the theme 'Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence'.
