JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has finally announced the roles and responsibilities of Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa.
This comes two months after his appointment.
Ramaphosa has signed a proclamation that transfers certain powers and responsibilities to the Electricity Minister which were previously held by Minerals Resources and Energy Minister, Gwede Mantashe.
The proclamation will grant Ramokgopa the power to direct the procurement of new generation capacity while also ensuring supply security.
He'll also be able to pick both energy sources and the amount of power generated from them.
