PARLIAMENT - Parliament’s Section 194 committee says it will proceed with the inquiry into suspended Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s fitness to hold office, with or without her presence.
It says now that Mkhwebane has secured funds for the matter, it will be continuing with its revised way forward.
Written questions have been submitted to Mkhwebane from both evidence leaders and members of Parliament.
She has until 6 July to respond to the questions.
Committee chair, Richard Dyantyi says the inquiry has been nothing but fair to Mkhwebane thus far.
He said, "She hasn't been denied any legal representation. We've gone out of our way to assist her to make sure she has legal representation."
"We've done everything we can to ensure there's no outstanding matter."
"We've handled the inquiry with fairness and rationality. should've been done in six months but there have been delays like sickness, money issues but still today we're doing all we can."
"In all of those we've kept decorum of inquiry and still today we doing all we can. All is above board and there's no court that can find otherwise and all those courts she's gone to have agreed with out processes."
"We're not deterred by hearsay issues flying around."
