
JOHANNESBURG - ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula has condemned the rape of Cwecwe, at her school in the Eastern Cape.
The seven-year-old girl was attacked on school premises while waiting for her scholar transport.

The Police's Head of Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Investigations Unit has been deployed to Matatiele to help with Cwecwe's case.
SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed this, saying the National Police Department has taken over the investigation.
Protest marches against gender based violence and femicide, took place nationwide.
The South African Council of Churches in the Eastern Cape, has joined in and condemned the alleged violation of the little girl.

The country has grappled with pervasive rape and gender based violence for many years,
that seems impossible to eliminate once and for all.
It's a problem that has been acknowledged by those in power, but it's clear the proposed interventions are not working.
