Police want Zama Zama kingpins behind bars
STILFONTEIN, NW - Police say they are working to find the kingpins behind illegal mining activities in the country.
Hundreds of zama zamas remain underground an abandoned shaft in Stilfontein in the North West. It's been nearly four weeks, since they have refused to resurface.

A court order is also complicating matters as it prevents anyone who isn't a rescue worker from helping the miners resurface. The court also ordered police officers to unblock the affected shafts and allow the zama zamas to resurface and get food and medication.
Police maintain those who exit the shafts will be arrested.
