JOHANNESBURG - Police Minister Bheki Cele will present the quarterly crime statistics, reflecting on crimes reported between April and June 2023.
Statistics have continued to reveal a shocking rise in murders as well as violence against women.
Between January to March this year, over 6,000 people were murdered in the country.
This translates to about 70 murders per day.

While there was a decline in child murders, attempts on children's lives increased.
At least 28 children are violently attacked each day.
There was a decrease in the number of carjackings, cash-in-transit heists, bank robberies and truck hijackings.
There was however an increase in robberies at residential premises and common assault.
