Parliament fire | Public Works Minister inspects repair work

CAPE TOWN - It will take at least another two years to fully restore Parliament to its former glory.

The building burnt for three days in January 2022.

Public Works Minister Dean  Macpherson will visit the site to check on repair work.

Officials say the repairs will cost about R3-billion.

The man arrested for the fire, Zandile Mafe, was charged with arson.

But, the court declared he was mentally unfit to stand trial.

He is now receiving treatment at a state mental health facility.
