Parents allege racism by principal of Pietermaritzburg school

PIETERMARITZBURG - Parents at a Pietermarizburg high school are accusing the principal of racism.

They say the head of Alexandra High School has been abusive to them and their children and that their children are being racially profiled.

Parents have come together to fight against the treatment their children have been subjected to.

Their children were involved in a fight that broke out between two groups.

But the parents say that after the altercation, their children were victimised and suspended without proper processes being followed.

They allege the principal’s actions were racially motivated.

They have called for the education department to intervene.

Attempts to speak to the School Governing Body were unsuccessful.

The provincial education department has condemned any form of racism at schools and says it will investigate.
