DURBAN - Two KwaZulu-Natal paramedics have been suspended for allegedly abandoning a patient in Umlazi.
It's alleged, they refused to climb a stairway to reach the patient at the weekend.
Instead, they demanded that the woman be brought to the ambulance by her family.
The provincial health department says when neighbours assisted, the paramedics allegedly accused them of being too slow - and left.
The patient was taken to a local clinic in an e-hailing vehicle and later transferred to the hospital.
A probe into the incident is underway.
