JOHANNESBURG - The police operation Shanela has arrested over 20,000 people since 08 May.
Crimes range from murder, rape, and robbery to the possession of stolen vehicles and other property.
National Police Commissioner, Fannie Masemola, was outlining efforts to curb the country's crime rates.
"We had 21,200 suspects who were arrested for various crimes ranging from murder, rape, malicious damage to property," he said.
