JOHANNESBURG - Gun violence continues to be a major concern in Gauteng.
Police are promising to silence the guns and are doing it with Operation O Kae Molao.

Gauteng Commissioner Elias Mawela says illegal firearms continue to be a concern.
He's also worried about a new growing trend.
"In Gauteng, we experience violent crime which is mostly committed with the use of firearms.

"The recovery of firearms remains a priority," the commissioner said.
"The new phenomenon in Gauteng, we see more and more crime being committed by people using replica firearms.
"They are being sold freely, especially in the free market and so forth."
