CAPE TOWN - While South Africa’s high levels of crime continue unabated, all eyes are now focused on what the new police minister will do to turn the tide.

While poverty, unemployment and inequality can be seen as contributing to the scourge, it’s also been compounded by increasing numbers of organised criminal groups and illegal weapons.
