CAPE TOWN - While South Africa’s high levels of crime continue unabated, all eyes are now focused on what the new police minister will do to turn the tide.
While poverty, unemployment and inequality can be seen as contributing to the scourge, it’s also been compounded by increasing numbers of organised criminal groups and illegal weapons.
Minister Senzo Mchuno certainly has a tough task ahead of him, but what do those in the sector want to see urgently addressed?
Do they think he’s the right person for the job?
eNCA senior reporter Silindelo Masikane filed this report.
