NSRI: One killed in high tide storm

    GEORGE - One person has died following a spring high tide along the country’s coastline.

    The National Sea Rescue Institute has confirmed that the victim was a 93-year-old woman. One man was also transported hospital.

    The storm caused flooding and forced evacuations in coastal areas.

    Communities in the coastal ares are advised to be on high alert on Sunday.

    This as more spring tides are expected.

    "So we are appealing to the public to monitor the forecast over the rest of this day. We’re currently still in a high tide at this moment," said the NSRI's Craig Lambinon.

    "We are expecting more storm surgence with the weather system that’s moving up the coastline past Plettenburg Bay and up the east coast.

    "So our appeal to the public now is be cautious and stay away, especially during high tide because the spring high tide is going to be higher than normal."
