JOHANNESBURG - Spaza shop patrollers will be on the ground from the end October.
That is according to Johannesburg's Public Safety MMC, Mgcini Tshwaku.
Tshwaku says these patrollers will inspect and shut down non-compliant Spaza shops.
This follows several incidents over the past few weeks where dozens of school children were hospitalised after allegedly eating food bought from hawkers and spaza shops.
