DURBAN - eThekwini residents continue to call out the municipality for its failure to provide basic services.
Residents of Umlazi’s F section have been without water for over 10 years and the municipality has failed to respond.
They have written to the office of the mayor and spoken to the head of department.
Other areas such as Ntuzuma are suffering from sewer issues that have gone unattended for months.
Water and sanitation issues have been plaguing the city for years and ratepayers aren't happy with the lack of resolution.
The head of water and sanitation, Ednick Msweli, says the problems facing Umlazi have to do with a water pipe that needs to be fixed. He says funds have been a problem.
In response to the sewer issue, the city has also now purchased 16 jetting machines to clean sewers, which will help it respond more rapidly to sanitation issues.
