New residence on the cards for AmaZulu King

JOHANNESBURG - A row is brewing over the funding of AmaZulu King Misuzulu KaZwelithini's proposed new palace in the posh suburb of Balllito, north of Durban.

While the Democratic Alliance in the province has raised concerns over the KwaZulu-Natal's finances, AmaZulu Prime Minister and the province's COGTA MEC Thulasizwe Buthelezi says nothing will stand in their way.

DA KZN spokesperson on finance, Tim Brauteseth, said the party respects the monarchy.

"When you have projects like this that are unfunded, there is no money in the current budget to fund it," he said.
