JOHANNESBURG - Although public schools will not be open on Monday due to it being a school holiday, the Basic Education Department has appealed to those who will participate in the national shutdown to respect school infrastructure.
The department says a decision was made two years ago to extend the Human Rights Day holiday, which is on Tuesday, to Monday as well.
Spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga says teachers and pupils who want to participate in the shutdown are more than welcome, but should remember to respect the law.
