MATATIELE - The Police's Head of Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Investigations Unit have been deployed to Matatiele in the Eastern Cape to help with the rape case of 7 year-old Cwecwe.
SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed this saying the National Police Department has taken over the investigation.
According to Mathe Lieutenant General Sehlahle Fannie Masemola has tasked the head of the family violence child protection and sexual investigation to oversee and bolster the alleged investigation of the alleged rape.
"The general has met with the investigation team to ascertain facts around this case.
"We saw her going through the docket with the team that has been trusted with this case. Ours is to ensure justice and that no stone is left upturned in ensuring a breakthrough in this particular case," she said.
Meanwhile, thousands of people countrywide have taken to the streets demanding justice for the girl and swift action from the police to find those responsible.
