Murder case of e-hailing driver postponed

CAPE TOWN - The group of people charged with the murder of e-hailing driver Abongile Mafalala in Cape Town will have to wait another two weeks to find out whether they'll be let out on bail.

Of the 13 people charged, only eleven appeared in the Wynberg magistrate's court on Tuesday.

That's because one accused is just 15 and another has turned state's witness.

Mafalala was brutally killed in May and videos of his attack were shared on social media.

The state previously said the group was arrested after being identified through videos shared on social media.

The matter has been postponed to 27 October for final arguments in the application.

The defence lawyer for accused 1 and 7 will submit heads of arguments by 14 October.
