Mpho Phalatse resigns as CoJ DA Councillor

JOHANNESBURG - Former Johannesburg mayor Mpho Phalase has resigned from her position as DA PR councillor in the City of Johannesburg.

From 2016 to 2019, Phalatse served as a member of the mayoral committee in Johannesburg for Health and Social Development.

In 2021 she became the first black female mayor of the City of Johannesburg after the 2021 local government elections.

She was ousted earlier this year after a motion of no confidence was passed against her.

Phalatse who is a qualified medical doctor says she is going back to the medical field.
