Mounting concerns over increase in cholera cases

JOHANNESBURG - There are mounting concerns over the increase in cholera cases.

The NICD has already recorded six instances of infection, with one death reported in Gauteng.

The Department of Health says the most common way cholera spreads is through contaminated or polluted water.

People can become infected directly by drinking unpurified water or indirectly through contaminated food.
